Two friends, marTIN and vlaDO, started the marvlaTINDO winery as a natural continuation of
their home winemaking project, which their friends and family were happily enjoying.
They produce wines in the Nitra winemaking region in Western Slovakia; which was once
home to the Sitno volcano that last erupted around 15 million years ago, leaving the area
covered with volcanic ash. Their vineyards grow on the slopes of the caldera of the
stratovolcano where the ash has been compressed and hardened over millennia into porous
tuff. With only 40-50cm of topsoil, the vines are forced to develop deep roots in the bedrock
to get water and in doing so, they absorb a large amount of minerals which show in the
profile of the wines.
All of the white wines are skin-contact, fermented on skins for 2-10 days. Their total
production is between 12,000 to 15,000 bottles a year.
Together with the Pivnica Brhlovce and Pivnica Čajkov, who are also located in the volcanic
Nitra region, they form the trio “Víno Spod Vulkánu” or “Wines from Under the Volcano”.

Tasting Notes

Single varietal Feteasca Regala. Hand harvested,
destemmed grapes were crushed and lightly pressed.
Spontaneous fermentation took place in a stainless steel
tank, in which the wine continued maturation on fine
lees for 8 months. Wine bottled with a small dose of
Sulphites.
Fragrant nose with meadow flower notes, crisp and juicy
white wine with good supporting acidity.
