Majella Sparkling Shiraz

Majella Sparkling Shiraz is a unique and richly Australian expression of sparkling red wine, hailing from the Coonawarra region in South Australia. It’s crafted entirely from Shiraz grapes, which are estate-grown on the famous terra rossa soils that give Coonawarra wines their depth and character. This wine is fermented in the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle), just like Champagne, with a secondary fermentation in the bottle and extended lees aging for added complexity.

In the glass, it pours a deep crimson with a fine bead. The nose offers ripe blackberries, dark cherries, plum, and lifted notes of spice, chocolate, and a touch of oak. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, velvety, and richly fruited, with a fine mousse and balanced acidity. The sweetness is often off-dry, making it both celebratory and food-friendly, especially with festive meals or rich, savory dishes like roast duck or glazed ham. Despite being a sparkling wine, it has structure and ageing potential, showcasing the robust, expressive nature of Coonawarra Shiraz in a sparkling form.
