Blind Summit 9 Year Old Caol Ila Tawny & Oloroso

This whisky opens with an ashy nose of sweet bacon, stewed pear, cured meat, herbal dried berries, fruity smoke, coal dust, pepper, candied pear, and a touch of sea spray. On the palate, it offers a delightful nuttiness and leafy berry notes, rounded out by sweet, smooth bonfire smoke. Crafted from an ex-bourbon barrel Caol Ila, it was finished for six months in a combination of 30L casks: two that previously held 22-year-old Tawny-finished Cameronbridge, and one that held 1982 Oloroso-finished Secret Speyside. The result is a harmonious blend of delicate berry and nutty tones, grounded by the smoky core of bourbon barrel Caol Ila.
