Champagne Vincent Bliard
Champagne Vincent Bliard Sempiternel 1999
Champagne Vincent Bliard Sempiternel 1999
This exceptional cuvée comes from the estate of Vincent Bliard in the village of Hautvillers (Premier Cru) in the Vallée de la Marne, where biodynamic-influenced viticulture has been practiced for decades. For the 1999 Sempiternel edition the wine is crafted from 100 % Chardonnay grown on Hautvillers terroir, vinified in wood for one year and bottled with an ultra‐low dosage of about 1.5 g/l.
After nearly 24 years in bottle, this is more than simply a vintage Champagne, it is a statement of ageing, place and minimalist winemaking.
On the nose the wine reveals a complex bouquet of mature orchard fruit, dried citrus peel, toasted brioche, warm pastry, subtle honey and an intriguing saline mineral undertone of chalk and flint. The palate is refined rather than opulent, offering elegant structure and ageing depth: layered flavours of yellow plum, preserved lemon, hints of almond‐marzipan and a background of smoke and fresh hazelnut. The finish is long, sinewy, framed by crisp but soft acidity and fine bead, the signature of time well spent.
This cuvée exemplifies the philosophy of the house: minimal intervention, wood ageing, long bottle maturation and respect for terroir, yielding a Champagne that rewards patience and is ideal for a tasting environment where depth, texture and provenance matter.
