The Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy from the dynamic Bouchard brothers presents a classic mineral and gunflint profile. With 12 months of ageing on fine lees, it offers a lovely freshness and texture on the palate. This wine showcases stunning purity of fruit, underlining why Domaine de L’Enclos stands out as one of the most exciting new domaines in Chablis. The grapes for the Premier Cru Beauroy are sourced from a 2.4-hectare single vineyard near the lake of Beine. Currently in conversion to organic certification, the domaine utilizes only organic fertilizers, and all fruit is hand-harvested. The vines, planted in 1980 on a south-facing, steep slope of Kimmeridgian limestone, contribute to the wine's exceptional quality.

Tasting Notes

This is one of the most exciting new domaines to have emerged from Chablis in the past decade. It is ‘new’ in that it is a name we’ve not seen before, but the family of Romain and Damien Bouchard has been in Chablis for generations. They sold their father’s négociant business in 2015 but retained the 39 hectares of vineyard that their mother’s family had owned. In addition, they bought a house in the heart of the town of Chablis called ‘L’Enclos’, which was originally a building used by the monks of Pontigny to house their vineyard workers.
On the nose, there are delicate aromas of ripe citrus fruit, accompanied by smoky notes. There is a pleasant minerality on the long finish.
