Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, named after the prevalent soil type in Marlborough, is a creation of Kevin Judd, the former winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 years. Produced at Dog Point Winery, this New Zealand Sauvignon is sourced from prime vineyards in the Southern Valleys, Awatere Valley, and Wairau Plains. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, with a portion using wild yeasts for added complexity. Judd adopts a minimal intervention approach, allowing terroir and varietal typicity to shine. The wine reveals intense aromas of melon, papaya, white peach, green bell pepper, and dried herbs. It offers a mouthwatering freshness, light body, and a well-rounded texture, partly owing to oak barrel fermentation. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with fresh seafood, summer salads, or roasted chicken.
