La Guardiense Greco 'Janare'

Greco Janare, crafted by the esteemed Italian producer La Guardiense, offers exceptional value from the Campanian sub-region of Sannio. Italy boasts many white grape varieties that produce delightful wines, but Greco stands out for creating truly complex wines. This wine features a depth of tangy citrus fruit rarely encountered, complemented by notes of melon and peach, all tied together by a zingy minerality.

La Guardiense is among Italy's, if not the world's, premier co-operative wineries. Established in 1960 by 33 farmers, the co-operative now includes around 1,000 members who cultivate 1,500 hectares of hilly terrain, averaging 350 meters in elevation. The renowned Italian winemaker Ricardo Cotarella oversees the operation. The vineyards are located in the Sannio sub-region within Benevento, an area characterized by volcanic soils, rolling hills, and expansive plains, creating a unique microclimate ideal for local varieties like Aglianico, Fiano, Falanghina, and Greco. Emphasizing environmental sustainability, La Guardiense harnesses renewable energy from their innovative photovoltaic system.
