Maison Antech's Crémant de Limoux Cuvée Eugénie is a sparkling wine from the Languedoc region in southern France, crafted by a family-run winery with a history dating back to the late 1800s. Currently led by Françoise Antech, the estate is known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking methods .

This vintage sparkling wine is made using the traditional method, similar to Champagne, involving a second fermentation in the bottle and extended aging on the lees. The 2021 vintage, for instance, spent 12 months maturing on the lees, contributing to its toasty character .

The blend typically comprises 70% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin Blanc, and 10% Mauzac . Chardonnay provides body and structure, Chenin Blanc adds acidity and freshness, and Mauzac contributes creaminess and a connection to the Limoux terroir .

On the palate, the wine exhibits notes of lemon zest, green apple, and brioche, with a fine mousse and chalky minerality . The dosage is around 8 grams per liter, offering a balanced sweet-tartness .

Cuvée Eugénie pairs well with seafood dishes like fresh steamed mussels or grilled shrimp . It is recommended to serve it chilled, between 6 to 8°C, to fully appreciate its effervescence and vibrant flavors .

This wine pays homage to Eugénie Limouzy, a pioneering woman winemaker in Limoux and great-aunt of Françoise Antech . With its combination of tradition, quality, and value, Cuvée Eugénie stands out as a notable example of Crémant de Limoux .
