Olek Bondonio Barbera d'Alba 2022

Olek Bondonio, a highly sought-after name in Barbaresco, grew up in the family's farmhouse, 'La Berchialla,' surrounded by some of Barbaresco's most famous crus, a property in his family for 200 years. After a successful career as a snowboarder, he turned his attention to winemaking, working both in the Langhe and abroad before returning home to care for the family's vineyards. Olek is privileged to work with some of Piemonte's best sites, and his meticulous vineyard work, coupled with patient winemaking, results in pure, old-fashioned expressions of the region's exceptional grapes.

One of his creations is a Barbera sourced from forty to eighty-year-old vines in the Altavilla vineyard, situated high in the hills above Alba. After spending about a month on the skins, the wine is pressed off to botti for a year of rest. This Barbera stands out for its rare depth and complexity, featuring dense, brambly fruit and refreshing acidity, characteristic of the grape.
