Champagne Vincent Bliard Les Fondamentaux
Champagne Vincent Bliard Les Fondamentaux
Champagne Vincent Bliard Les Fondamentaux is a standout from one of Champagne’s pioneering organic families, who have cultivated their vineyards with care since the 1960s. This cuvée reflects their dedication to tradition and evolution across generations.
The Bliard family is among only three in the region to have farmed organically for nearly six decades. With ancestors who were coopers, barrel ageing remains a cornerstone of their craft, adding complexity and character to every vintage. This blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, and 30% Chardonnay showcases the diversity of their 16 individual plots, with terroir spanning clay, limestone, and chalk soils. Each parcel is pressed and fermented separately, then aged for a year in oak barrels to develop structure and depth. After five years on lees, the Champagne is disgorged with a low dosage of 3g/l, creating a wine that is both textured and vibrant.
The result is extraordinary—a Champagne that balances bold, oxidative flavors with a fresh, elegant finish. Multi-layered and complex, it offers remarkable value, delivering far more than its price suggests.
Now led by Florence and Antoine, who took over in 2018, the Domaine remains deeply rooted in tradition while embracing a modern vision. Their grandfather, Jean, now 92, still tends the vines daily, a testament to the family’s enduring passion for their craft. Les Fondamentaux is a true reflection of this legacy.
