Founded in 2005 by Rodrigo Méndez with guidance from renowned Bierzo winemaker Raúl Pérez, Forjas del Salnés is celebrated for crafting sincere, expressive wines in the Salnes Valley, notably the exquisite Leirana. Selecting only the finest grapes from prime plots, often sourced from old vines, the winery employs organic farming practices and ages its wines in previously used or large wooden barrels. Each vineyard plot is meticulously vinified separately to reveal and honor its unique character shaped by soil composition, location, altitude, and proximity to the sea.
