Medwyn Cellars - Bowerkin

First release from a brand new scottish cider producer Medwyn Cellars of West Linton (Scottish Borders)

Cider maker Ravi (Ex Brewer and organiser of Carnivale Brettanomyces!) took his 2022 apple scrattings and gave them a second life, fermenting the rehydrated juice naturally and letting it rest on the lees for a year.

In 2023, Ravi layered in another element Bacchus grape skins from a biodynamic vineyard in Kent. The ciderkin spent two months soaking up subtle aromatics and structure from the grapes. Finally, to lift the whole thing, a handful of locally foraged elderflower was added, bringing gentle floral notes and a hint of brightness. 

Bottled in June and conditioned with fresh apple juice, BOWERKIN is light, refreshing, and easy to drink at just 2.0% ABV. Think of it as a countryside spritz dry, gently tart, and a great introduction to ciderkin if you’re curious.
