Terre de l’Élu, Maupiti, Gamay, Cabernet Franc
Terre de l’Élu VDF “Maupiti” is a biodynamically farmed red from the Loire Valley’s Anjou Noir (Saint-Aubin de Luigné), crafted by Thomas and Charlotte Carsin on schist and quartz soils. It’s a blend of Gamay, Cabernet Franc and Grolleau (roughly 50 / 35 / 15 %) that’s hand-harvested, whole-cluster fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for many months in neutral or oak vats, keeping the winemaking natural and expressive of its terroir.
In the glass it presents a subtle, juicy bouquet of red berries and ripe cherry with light spice and earthy herbal notes; the palate is supple and fresh, offering juicy red-fruit character, soft tannins and a lively, elegant finish that makes it easy-drinking yet nuanced.
The name “Maupiti” evokes a sense of exploration and the languid beauty of a peaceful island, a fitting metaphor for a wine that’s both inviting and quietly complex.
