Flotzinger

Flötzinger has been brewing beer in Rosenheim since the 1500s, which means the brewery was already making lager while most of Europe was still enthusiastically dying of plague. Very reassuring honestly.

The brewery sits deep in Bavaria and makes classic German beer with absolutely no interest in modern craft gimmicks. Helles, weissbier, dunkel, pilsner, all the traditional styles done cleanly, crisply and with the sort of technical precision Germans seem physically incapable of avoiding.

The Helles is probably the standout for a lot of people. Soft malt, gentle bitterness and ridiculous drinkability. Nothing flashy, nothing weird, just perfectly tuned lager designed for beer gardens, long lunches and accidentally staying out far later than planned.

Flötzinger also keeps things very local and traditional. Proper Bavarian brewing culture runs through the whole place, from the styles themselves down to the branding and presentation. No neon cans screaming about mango puree or triple dry hopping anywhere in sight.

Sometimes beer really does not need reinventing. Sometimes it just needs to arrive cold in a heavy glass beside a pretzel the size of your head.
