Zichovec Brewery
Louny, Ústí Region, Czech Republic
The Czech Republic built its beer reputation on lager. Zichovec looked at that history, respected it properly, then decided there was plenty of room to explore everything else as well.
Founded in 2012 as a small family brewery in the village of Zichovec, the project quickly outgrew its original setup before moving production to a larger modern brewery in Louny. What started as a local brewery became one of the leading names in Czech craft beer remarkably quickly.
The range is enormous. Traditional Czech lagers sit alongside hazy IPAs, pastry stouts, barrel-aged beers, mixed fermentation projects and heavily fruited sours. Despite the variety, the brewery generally manages to avoid feeling scattered. There is a strong technical foundation underneath the experimentation.
What makes Zichovec particularly interesting is that it bridges two beer cultures. The brewery clearly respects Czech brewing traditions while remaining fully engaged with modern global craft beer. Not every brewery manages that balance successfully.
The Czech Republic remains one of the great beer-producing countries on earth. Zichovec serves as a useful reminder that its brewing future is every bit as interesting as its past.
