Champagne Carré Frères is part of a new wave of grower Champagne producers focusing on terroir, organic farming and small-scale winemaking in the Montagne de Reims. Run by brothers Edouard and Victor Carré, the domaine works across old vineyard parcels in villages including Trépail, Verzy and Ambonnay, producing wines that combine traditional Champagne structure with a more textural and vineyard-focused approach.
Although the modern project is relatively recent, the family’s roots in Champagne viticulture stretch back generations. Vineyard work is carried out organically, with careful attention paid to soil health, low yields and preserving site expression across individual parcels.
The wines are known for parcel-by-parcel vinification, low dosage and fermentation in oak barrels rather than stainless steel. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir dominate the range, producing Champagnes with freshness, layered texture, salinity and structure rather than heavily polished or aggressively reductive styles. Oak ageing adds depth and breadth without overwhelming the mineral character and precision of the fruit.
Carré Frères has quickly become one of the most talked-about names among modern grower Champagne producers, particularly for single-vineyard bottlings and highly limited releases that sit somewhere between classic Champagne and contemporary low-intervention wine culture. Their wines appeal equally to traditional Champagne drinkers and those interested in more terroir-driven, expressive sparkling wine.
