Cloudwater Brew Co. has become one of the defining names in modern British craft beer, helping transform the UK beer scene through world-class hazy IPA, seasonal brewing and a relentless focus on freshness, flavour and technical quality. Founded in Manchester in 2014 by Paul Jones and James Campbell, the brewery quickly gained international recognition for modern hop-forward beer that combined American craft brewing inspiration with a distinctly European sense of balance and drinkability.
Brewing began in 2015 from the Piccadilly Trading Estate in central Manchester, where Cloudwater rapidly became one of the UK’s most talked-about breweries. The brewery was especially influential in shaping the rise of hazy New England IPA in Britain through saturated double IPA, soft texture and highly expressive hop character built around freshness and evolving seasonal recipes. Cloudwater’s DIPA releases quickly developed cult status among enthusiasts and helped establish the brewery as one of the most respected names in global modern beer.
Unlike many breweries built around permanent core ranges, Cloudwater became known for constant seasonal evolution, regularly changing recipes based on hop harvests, ingredient availability and brewing development. Alongside IPA, the brewery has also produced exceptional lager, saison, stout, mixed fermentation beer and cask ale, all approached with the same emphasis on technical precision and ingredient expression. Cloudwater was also one of the earliest major UK breweries to fully embrace 440ml can formats and highly design-led packaging, helping influence the visual identity of modern British craft beer.
