Adelphi Longmorn 1992 is a rare independent bottling of Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, distilled at the highly regarded Longmorn distillery and selected by Adelphi, one of Scotland’s most respected independent bottlers. Matured for decades in oak before bottling at natural cask strength, this release captures the rich, fruit-forward style that has made older Longmorn whisky legendary among collectors and enthusiasts.

Founded in 1894 in Speyside, Longmorn has long been revered by blenders and whisky drinkers alike for producing exceptionally weighty and complex spirit with remarkable ageing potential. Older vintages, particularly from the late 1980s and early 1990s, are especially sought after for their tropical fruit character and waxy texture.

Adelphi is known for selecting only a small fraction of casks for bottling, focusing on individuality, balance and natural presentation. Bottlings are typically released without chill filtration or added colouring, preserving the whisky’s full texture and cask character.

On the nose, expect aromas of ripe peach, mango, honeycomb, citrus peel and polished oak layered with vanilla, beeswax and gentle spice. The palate is rich and textured with flavours of tropical fruit, apricot, malt loaf, soft toffee and elegant oak tannin balanced by Longmorn’s signature oily mouthfeel.

Extended maturation allows the whisky to develop remarkable depth without losing freshness, creating a style prized for both power and elegance. The finish is long and warming with lingering fruit, spice and old oak complexity.

A classic old-school Speyside whisky from one of the region’s most respected distilleries, bottled in limited quantities for serious whisky enthusiasts.

Adelphi

Style: Distillery

Country: Scotland

Region: Highlands / Ardnamurchan

Adelphi are one of the great modern independent names in Scotch whisky, but the story behind them goes much deeper than simply bottling rare casks. The original Adelphi distillery dates back to 19th century Glasgow, although the modern company was revived in the 1990s as an independent bottler with a very clear philosophy from the start: bottle whiskies with real personality rather than chasing consistency or mass appeal. Over time that approach built Adelphi a seriously loyal following among whisky drinkers who wanted something more individual and less polished than the big mainstream releases.

What’s always made Adelphi stand out is the way they select whisky. Most releases are single cask, often bottled at natural cask strength, with very little intervention along the way. The focus has always been on texture, character, and letting each whisky speak for itself, even if that means every bottling ends up slightly different from the last. There’s a very old-school feel to the whole company. Serious about quality, but never overly slick or corporate.

That philosophy eventually led them towards building their own distillery on the Ardnamurchan peninsula on Scotland’s west coast, one of the most remote whisky regions in the country. Ardnamurchan Distillery officially opened in 2014 and quickly became one of the most talked-about new distilleries in Scotland, partly because it carried all the same Adelphi values into production itself. Sustainability, traditional methods, small-scale thinking, and a real connection to place all sit right at the centre of the project.

There’s also something refreshing about the fact that Adelphi still feels slightly niche despite the reputation they’ve built. It’s the sort of producer people tend to discover through one really memorable bottle, then quietly keep an eye on afterwards because they know the next release could end up being completely different again.
