Bibbo feels like Sicily in a glass.

Not in the postcard sense, but in the way the wine seems to capture the island's mix of sunshine, sea air, and slightly wild personality. Made from Zibibbo, a grape more commonly associated with sweet wines, it shows just how interesting the variety can be when it's allowed to stay dry.

The aroma is impossible to ignore. Before the glass reaches your lips you're already getting orange blossom, citrus peel, and ripe stone fruit. Thankfully, the wine never becomes perfumed or overwhelming. There's enough freshness and a subtle herbal edge to keep everything in check.

What I like most about Bibbo is that it doesn't behave like many aromatic whites. Instead of being all about the nose, it actually has substance. There's texture, a little Mediterranean savouriness, and enough character to keep you interested all the way through the bottle.

It's also the sort of wine that seems to make people ask what they're drinking. If someone usually reaches for Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, or Pinot Grigio, Bibbo offers something a bit different without feeling challenging. Familiar enough to be approachable, distinctive enough to be memorable.

Stick a cold bottle on the table with seafood, grilled vegetables, or a spread of mezze and you'll quickly understand why Zibibbo has been grown around the Mediterranean for centuries.

Don’t forget your corkscrew 🍷

Caruso e Minini

Style: Winery

Country: Italy

Region: Sicily

Caruso e Minini captures exactly why Sicily has become one of the most exciting wine regions in Europe over the last decade. Sun-soaked vineyards, ancient native grapes, salty Mediterranean freshness and a growing generation of producers proving the island can make wines with far more finesse than the old bulk-wine stereotypes ever suggested.

The winery sits in western Sicily near Marsala, combining two long-established Sicilian families with a very modern approach to winemaking. There’s huge respect for local tradition running through the project, but also a clear understanding that Sicily’s real strength lies in its indigenous grapes and unique climate rather than trying to imitate mainland Italy or international styles.

The wines revolve around varieties like Nero d’Avola, Catarratto, Grillo and Perricone, all beautifully adapted to the island’s intense heat and coastal conditions. The reds tend to be ripe, spicy and generous but still fresh underneath, while the whites often carry this brilliant salty citrus character that practically tastes like sea breeze and sunshine.

What makes Caruso e Minini especially enjoyable is how vibrant the wines feel. Sicily can occasionally drift into overripe heaviness if producers aren’t careful, but these wines usually keep plenty of energy and balance. Even the richer styles still feel alive rather than exhausting.

There’s also a lovely sense of place running through the whole range. Mediterranean herbs, volcanic soils, hot stone and coastal freshness all seem to naturally emerge from the glass without the winery needing to force the point. Proper modern Sicilian wine with genuine personality.
