A bright, modern Sicilian red blending two native grapes, Frappato for juicy aromatics and Nerello Mascalese for structure and spice, grown in the hills around Marsala. Hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel, with a short period of ageing split between tank and barrique, it’s all about freshness with a touch of depth.

Lively and expressive, it shows wild berries, cherry and plum with hints of spice and herbs. The palate is smooth, lightly structured and vibrant, balancing fresh acidity with gentle tannins and a rounded, persistent finish.

Caruso e Minini captures exactly why Sicily has become one of the most exciting wine regions in Europe over the last decade. Sun-soaked vineyards, ancient native grapes, salty Mediterranean freshness and a growing generation of producers proving the island can make wines with far more finesse than the old bulk-wine stereotypes ever suggested.

The winery sits in western Sicily near Marsala, combining two long-established Sicilian families with a very modern approach to winemaking. There’s huge respect for local tradition running through the project, but also a clear understanding that Sicily’s real strength lies in its indigenous grapes and unique climate rather than trying to imitate mainland Italy or international styles.

The wines revolve around varieties like Nero d’Avola, Catarratto, Grillo and Perricone, all beautifully adapted to the island’s intense heat and coastal conditions. The reds tend to be ripe, spicy and generous but still fresh underneath, while the whites often carry this brilliant salty citrus character that practically tastes like sea breeze and sunshine.

What makes Caruso e Minini especially enjoyable is how vibrant the wines feel. Sicily can occasionally drift into overripe heaviness if producers aren’t careful, but these wines usually keep plenty of energy and balance. Even the richer styles still feel alive rather than exhausting.

There’s also a lovely sense of place running through the whole range. Mediterranean herbs, volcanic soils, hot stone and coastal freshness all seem to naturally emerge from the glass without the winery needing to force the point. Proper modern Sicilian wine with genuine personality.
