Château Pesquié Le Paradou Rolle (Vermentino)
Le Paradou Rolle comes from the Chaudière family of Château Pesquié, a producer best known for helping put the Ventoux on the map. While their estate wines focus on the foothills of Mont Ventoux, the Le Paradou range is a chance to explore the wider south of France through a collection of wines that are all about freshness, drinkability, and regional character.
Made from Rolle, the French name for Vermentino, this is a grape variety that feels perfectly suited to the Mediterranean climate. Originally from Italy and now widely planted across southern France, it thrives in warm conditions while somehow managing to hold onto a remarkable amount of freshness.
Yes, there's plenty of citrus, grapefruit, and orchard fruit, but the real character comes from the savoury side of the grape. Notes of green almond, wild herbs, and a subtle saline edge give it a real sense of place and make it far more interesting than your average easy-drinking white.
There's also a lovely texture to the wine. It feels generous without being rich, fresh without being sharp, and finishes with the kind of mouthwatering quality that immediately makes you think about food. Seafood is the obvious match, but it works just as well with grilled vegetables, salads, or simply a sunny afternoon.
The best Mediterranean whites have a knack for transporting you somewhere warmer after the first sip. Le Paradou Rolle does exactly that.
Don’t forget your corkscrew 🍷
