A classic Provence rosé with a slightly more “terroir-driven” edge, coming from a biodynamically farmed estate in Pierrefeu-du-Var, where the combination of sun, alluvial soils and careful farming gives both ripeness and a noticeable mineral backbone.

In the glass it’s very pale pink, exactly what you expect from the region, light, elegant, and built around freshness rather than extraction.

The nose is delicate but expressive, showing white flowers, peach, citrus peel and a soft herbal lift, with that subtle Provençal aromatic profile rather than anything overtly fruity or sweet.

On the palate it leans into balance and texture rather than just lightness. You get stone fruit (peach, apricot), a hint of red berry, and a gentle almond note, all carried by a clean line of acidity. There’s a roundness on entry, but it tightens into a fresh, mineral finish that keeps it precise and food-friendly.

Don’t forget your corkscrew 🍷

Domaine Kennel

Style: Winery

Country: France

Region: Provence, Côtes de Provence

Domaine Kennel is one of those quietly brilliant southern French estates that seems far more interested in farming properly and making genuinely delicious wine than chasing trends or sticking gold foil on labels. Based in Provence near Pierrefeu-du-Var, the domaine has been family owned since the 1930s and today is run by Julien and Mireille Kennel, who converted the vineyards to biodynamic farming back in 2005. Which usually means one very important thing: the vines are happy, the wines are alive, and somebody somewhere probably owns at least one large hat.

The estate works across a wide range of grape varieties and styles, producing everything from classic Côtes de Provence rosé to whites, reds and more experimental low intervention cuvées. While Provence rosé often gets trapped in a strange luxury lifestyle world full of yachts and aggressively beige Instagram accounts, Domaine Kennel feels much more grounded and authentic. The wines focus on freshness, texture and drinkability rather than simply looking expensive next to a swimming pool.

The rosés are crisp, herbal and mineral driven with proper structure underneath the pale fruit, while the whites bring bright citrus, stone fruit and Mediterranean herbs without becoming heavy or overly alcoholic. Even the lighter wines still carry a lovely savoury edge that makes them dangerously easy to keep drinking. There’s real balance here rather than simple fruit bombs designed for one sunny afternoon and immediate forgetfulness.

What makes Domaine Kennel especially appealing is the sense of care running through the entire estate. Biodynamic farming, low intervention winemaking and respect for the local Provençal landscape all feel completely natural to the project rather than marketing buzzwords awkwardly glued onto the back label. The wines manage to feel both rustic and polished at the same time, which is harder than it sounds.
