Chardonnay sourced in Villers Marmery, this wine captures the essence of the village. Chalky with hints of cuttlefish, glazed orange peel, and a saline finish. The entrance is wonderfully sublime, featuring abundant apple skin and lemon pith, a round and generous mid, and a salty, sweet, and lingering finish.

Situated in Villers Marmery in Montagne de Reims, this esteemed maison was established by Gaston Henriet in 1890, later acquiring vineyards in Villers Marmery. With over 7 hectares in Verzenay, Villers-Marmery, Verzy, and holdings in Faverolles and Coemy, it is now led by Marie-Noelle. Recently awarded HVE (High Environmental Value) status, the focus is evident in their crisp, clean, and fruity wines reflecting the essence of Villers-Marmery, marked by brilliant tension and length.

100% Chardonnay

Sips Champagne

Style: Wine Importer

Country: United Kingdom

Region: London

Champagne retail has increasingly moved towards growers, smaller producers and bottles that offer something beyond the handful of giant names everybody already recognises. Sips Champagne was built almost entirely around that idea.

Founded by two friends with a clear obsession for grower Champagne, the business focuses on importing and curating wines from smaller independent producers across the region. Rather than relying purely on luxury branding, the emphasis stays firmly on vineyard character and producer identity.

Grower Champagne has become increasingly popular because it often provides a more direct expression of specific villages, vineyards and grape varieties. You tend to get wines that feel tied to place rather than blended into a broad house style designed for global consistency.

The selection covers everything from crisp Blanc de Blancs to richer Pinot-led styles, often introducing drinkers to producers they would never normally encounter through mainstream retail channels.

What makes businesses like Sips Champagne valuable is that they help widen the conversation around Champagne itself. The region is far more diverse than many people realise, and smaller growers are often where some of the most interesting bottles can be found.
