Italia Prosecco Spumante Brut is a fresh, easy-drinking Italian sparkling wine from the Prosecco DOC in the hills northeast of Treviso, made from 100% Glera grapes that are hand-picked, gently pressed and undergo second fermentation in tank to develop fine, lively bubbles.

In the glass it shows a pale straw with delicate mousse and offers aromas of citrus, green apple and hints of stone fruit, with a palate that follows through with light citrus, juicy grapey character, zesty acidity and a soft, appealing finish, typical of well-made Prosecco Brut style.

Boutinot Italia

Style: Winery

Country: Italy

Region: Various Italian Regions

Boutinot Italia is part of the wider Boutinot wine family, a company that started life in Manchester restaurants before gradually turning into one of the UK wine world’s most respected importers and producers. The Italian arm focuses on sourcing and producing wines that actually taste like Italy rather than generic “Mediterranean red” poured into a vaguely rustic label with a bicycle on it. Which, surprisingly, still feels rarer than it should.

The range stretches across some of Italy’s best-known regions, from juicy Sicilian reds and crisp Pinot Grigio to richer Appassimento styles and proper food-friendly Sangiovese. The general philosophy leans heavily toward balance and drinkability over overblown oak or flashy winemaking tricks. These are wines built around real Italian drinking culture: good food, long lunches and the understanding that opening a second bottle is often the correct decision.

What makes Boutinot especially good at this sort of thing is that they’ve spent decades working directly with growers and vineyards rather than simply bulk-buying anonymous wine and slapping trendy labels on it. The wines tend to massively outperform expectations for the money while still carrying genuine regional character. You can usually tell when a wine has been selected by people who actually enjoy drinking it themselves rather than by a marketing committee staring nervously at spreadsheets.

Italy itself remains one of the world’s greatest wine playgrounds because every region feels completely different from the next. Boutinot Italia captures a lot of that wonderfully chaotic diversity while keeping the wines approachable, reliable and very easy to love. Exactly the sort of bottles that mysteriously disappear halfway through cooking dinner.
