Ocho Tequila is the result of a celebrated collaboration between Thomas Estes and legendary master distiller Carlos Camarena. Unique in the world of tequila, Ocho explores the concept of terroir, with each release of their Añejo and Reposado expressions sourced from a single estate-grown agave field — or Rancho — in a specific year.

The Blanco is their unaged expression, crafted from agave grown in two renowned Ranchos: Arandas and Camarena. Designed to be intense, lively, and clean, it’s a superior blanco tequila — vibrant enough to shine in cocktails, yet refined enough to sip neat. A benchmark for purity, provenance, and character.

Ocho

Style: Distillery

Country: Mexico

Region: Jalisco

Tequila becomes far more interesting once you start treating agave like wine producers treat vineyards. Ocho helped push that whole idea into mainstream tequila conversation long before “terroir” became fashionable in spirits marketing.

Created by Carlos Camarena and the late Tomas Estes, Tequila Ocho focuses on single-estate agave harvested from individual ranches across Jalisco. Each bottling identifies the exact field the agave came from, which immediately shifts the conversation away from anonymous industrial tequila production.

The tequila itself leans remarkably clean and expressive. Bright roasted agave, black pepper, citrus, herbs and mineral notes dominate rather than vanilla-heavy oak or excessive sweetness. Even the aged expressions retain freshness and proper agave character underneath the barrel influence.

What separates Ocho from mass-market tequila is transparency. Slower cooking, careful distillation and mature agave all contribute to a spirit that actually tastes connected to the raw ingredient rather than heavily manipulated afterwards.

Modern tequila culture improved enormously once producers like Ocho convinced drinkers tequila could be sipped thoughtfully rather than simply fired into the night with salt and regret attached.
