Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs is a vibrant, terroir-driven sparkling that beautifully bridges traditional Cava and Champagne styles. Crafted from a biodynamically farmed vineyard over 40 years old (Vinya del Llac) in Catalonia’s Conca del Riu Anoia, which they deliberately left the Cava DO to better showcase, the wine reflects a deep sense of place.

The blend features Macabeo, Xarel·lo, Parellada, and a touch of Malvasia de Sitges, the latter adding natural acidity and aromatic complexity. After separate stainless fermentations and at least 18 months on lees in bottle, the result is a bright straw-yellow sparkler with fine mouss.

On the nose, expect fresh citrus zest, green apple, pear, and white florals, accented by Mediterranean herbs, subtle brioche, nuts, and toasted complexity. The palate is crisp and saline‑mineral, with zesty acidity, creamy texture, and lingering almond‑honey finish.

In short, Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs is a refined, contemporary sparkler rooted in micro‑terroir and tradition, a Catalan blanc de blancs that delivers Champagne‑like complexity with Mediterranean brightness.

Raventós i Blanc

Style: Winery

Country: Spain

Region: Penedès, Catalonia

Long before sparkling wine became obsessed with branding, luxury packaging and finding increasingly creative ways to justify pricing, Raventós i Blanc were focused on vineyards. That remains central to everything they do.

Based in the Penedès region of Catalonia, the family’s history with sparkling wine stretches back generations. In fact, the Raventós family were producing what eventually became Cava long before the category officially existed. More recently, they stepped away from the Cava DO entirely, choosing instead to focus on estate-grown fruit and stricter vineyard standards.

The wines are built around traditional local varieties including Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada. Xarel·lo in particular gives the wines much of their character, bringing freshness, texture and a slightly herbal Mediterranean edge that feels very different from Champagne.

What makes Raventós i Blanc stand out is precision. The wines carry citrus, orchard fruit, chalky minerality and fine mousse without relying on overt richness or dosage. They feel detailed and energetic rather than flashy.

There is a strong sense of place running through the range. These are sparkling wines that taste distinctly Catalan rather than trying to imitate Champagne, which is ultimately far more interesting.
