Speyside tends to be associated with whisky first, which is understandable given the number of distilleries occupying the landscape. Spey Valley Brewery quietly demonstrates there is room for beer as well.

Based in the Highlands, the brewery focuses on traditional ales, stouts and seasonal releases that reflect both local brewing culture and the surrounding environment. The beers generally lean towards balance rather than modern craft extremes.

Expect malt-forward styles, gentle hop character and straightforward drinkability. Golden ales, bitters and darker beers form much of the range, often designed with pubs and long conversations in mind rather than endless tasting notes.

There is something pleasingly old-fashioned about the approach. The brewery feels connected to local drinking culture rather than chasing national trends.
