Torre alle Tolfe's Chianti Colli Senesi 2021 is a 100% Sangiovese wine from Tuscany, Italy. The grapes are grown on sandy soils rich in fossilized oyster shells, contributing to the wine's unique character. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and is aged for one year in concrete tanks, preserving the distinct tannin structure and texture of the Sangiovese grape. This method results in a wine with vibrant fruit flavors and a balanced profile.

Tuscan wine often gets reduced to a handful of famous names and polished international styles. Torre alle Tolfe heads in a very different direction.

Located just outside Siena, the historic estate focuses heavily on traditional Tuscan varieties, particularly Sangiovese, while maintaining a strong commitment to organic farming and lower-intervention winemaking. The vineyards sit among rolling hills, olive groves and exactly the sort of landscape people imagine when somebody says Tuscany.

The wines tend to favour freshness and authenticity over power. Sangiovese delivers sour cherry, dried herbs, earthy spice and lively acidity, often feeling closer to older Tuscan traditions than heavily extracted modern styles.

The estate also produces skin-contact wines, rosato and several more experimental bottlings, reflecting a willingness to explore while remaining connected to local identity.

What makes Torre alle Tolfe particularly appealing is that the wines still feel agricultural. Vineyard, soil and season all remain visible rather than disappearing behind winemaking technique.
