Meet the Producer, Verdant Brewery

Verdant Brewery

Style: Brewery

Few British breweries have done more to shape modern UK hop culture than Verdant. If somebody has spent the last decade enthusiastically discussing juicy IPA, there is a decent chance Verdant entered the conversation at some point.

Founded in Cornwall, the brewery built its reputation around unfiltered, unfined and heavily hopped beers inspired by the softer, fruit-forward styles emerging from the United States. The timing turned out to be fairly good. British drinkers were becoming increasingly interested in modern IPA, and Verdant quickly became one of the breweries setting the standard.

The beers tend to focus on expressive hop aroma, soft texture and remarkable drinkability. Citrus, mango, peach, gooseberry and pine all appear regularly throughout the range, often supported by a gentle bitterness that stops everything drifting too far into fruit smoothie territory.

What makes Verdant particularly impressive is that it never became a one-style brewery. Alongside the flagship pale ales and IPAs sit lagers, cask beer, collaborations and a growing hospitality operation spread across Cornwall.

Cornwall already had excellent beer before Verdant arrived. The brewery simply gave a new generation another reason to head west.
