Frequently Asked Questions
What makes craft beer different?
Craft beer is usually brewed by independent breweries that focus on flavour, quality and creativity rather than producing huge volumes. You'll find everything from crisp lagers and classic pale ales to hazy IPAs, mixed fermentation beers and rich imperial stouts.
Can I visit The Beerhive if I'm in Edinburgh?
Absolutely. Our shop is in Canonmills, just a short walk from Edinburgh's city centre. Alongside hundreds of beers, you'll also find fine wine, whisky, cider, spirits and a team that's always happy to help you choose something new.
Do you stock local Edinburgh breweries?
Yes. We're proud to support breweries from Edinburgh and across Scotland alongside some of the best breweries from the UK, Europe and further afield. Our shelves change constantly as fresh deliveries arrive every week.
Do you only sell Scottish craft beer?
Not at all. While we love showcasing local breweries, you'll also find beers from Belgium, Germany, the USA, Czechia and many other countries. We buy the beers we genuinely enjoy drinking, wherever they're brewed.
Do you host craft beer tastings in Edinburgh?
Yes. We regularly run beer tastings featuring independent breweries, themed evenings and guest speakers, often paired with food from local restaurants and producers. They're designed to be relaxed, welcoming and suitable for all levels of experience.
I'm new to craft beer. Where should I start?
If you're not sure what to choose, just ask. Whether you enjoy crisp lagers, hop-forward IPAs, Belgian ales or darker beers, we're always happy to point you towards bottles that suit your taste rather than simply recommending the newest release.
