Merlot is one of the world's most widely planted red grape varieties, loved for its soft texture, ripe fruit and easy-going character. Expect flavours of plum, black cherry and blackberry, often backed up by notes of cocoa, herbs and gentle spice, with smooth tannins that make Merlot approachable even when young.
