Cointreau is basically the reason half the cocktail world tastes better. The iconic French orange liqueur has been quietly holding drinks together since the 1800s while receiving far less credit than it probably deserves. Margaritas, Sidecars, Cosmopolitans, White Ladies, the list of cocktails leaning heavily on Cointreau’s existence is slightly absurd once you stop and think about it.

Produced in Angers in the Loire Valley, Cointreau combines sweet and bitter orange peels into a crystal-clear liqueur somehow managing to feel rich, bright and razor-clean all at once. That balance is exactly why bartenders love it so much. It adds sweetness and citrus intensity without turning drinks sticky or clumsy.

What makes Cointreau especially impressive is the precision. Orange liqueur sounds simple on paper until you try lesser versions and realise how quickly things can drift into artificial sweetshop chaos. Cointreau stays fresh, aromatic and beautifully structured.
