Dubuisson

Style: Brewery

Country: Belgium

Region: Wallonia

Brasserie Dubuisson is one of Belgium’s oldest independent breweries and the kind of producer that seems completely uninterested in trends because it already mastered strong beer several centuries ago. Founded in 1769 in Wallonia, the brewery is best known for Bush beers and Cuvée des Trolls, both of which have developed cult followings among people who enjoy flavour, complexity and occasionally waking up surprised by how strong the beer actually was.

Bush Ambrée in particular has become legendary for its rich malt depth, dark fruit, caramel and warming alcohol character. At over 12%, it sits firmly in the category of “beer that politely pretends to be harmless before ruining your evening plans.” Despite the strength, the balance stays remarkably smooth and drinkable, which honestly feels slightly dangerous.

Cuvée des Trolls heads in a brighter and more playful direction, combining Belgian yeast character with citrus, spice and soft fruit notes. It’s approachable, lively and exactly the sort of beer that quietly converts people into Belgian beer obsessives without them fully noticing what happened.

What makes Dubuisson especially charming is how unapologetically Belgian everything feels. Big flavours, long brewing history, slightly eccentric branding and absolutely no concern whatsoever for modern minimalist beer trends. Proper old-school Belgian brewing confidence.
