This wine originates from Mendoza, where carefully selected blocks of Malbec are harvested at night, crushed and fermented in stainless steel before ageing in concrete to allow the tannins and acidity to mellow.
On the nose it reveals lifted aromatics and rather bright, brambly fruit; the palate is medium-bodied with black cherry, plum and a subtle spice character, finishing fresh and approachable.
Because the wine is unoaked and focuses on pure varietal expression, it offers good value and versatility, ideal for casual meals or paired with grilled meats, pasta or dishes with tomato-based sauces.

Estampado

Style: Winery

Country: Chile

Region: Central Valley

Estampado makes the sort of wines that are very easy to accidentally finish faster than intended. Produced in Chile, the winery focuses heavily on approachable, fruit-forward wines that keep plenty of freshness and character without disappearing into overly serious wine-snob territory. These are bottles designed for drinking, not for spending forty minutes discussing “graphite notes” while everyone else waits for dinner.

The range covers a lot of classic Chilean territory including Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, all leaning bright, smooth and generously fruity. Reds tend to bring loads of dark berry fruit, soft spice and easy tannins, while the whites stay crisp, tropical and refreshing without becoming overly sharp or aggressive. Basically the kind of wines that work brilliantly on a random Tuesday night but still hold up perfectly well with food.

Part of what makes Estampado appealing is how uncomplicated it all feels. The wines are clean, reliable and packed with enough flavour to stay interesting without trying too hard to impress anyone. Chile does this style particularly well honestly. Plenty of sunshine, loads of ripe fruit and winemaking that understands not every bottle needs to become a philosophical experience.

For people after straightforward, good-value wine with loads of easygoing charm, Estampado delivers exactly that. Friendly, juicy and properly unfussy.
