Meet the Producer, Fourman Brewery

Fourman Brewery

Style: Brewery

Fourman Brewery is the independent project of Robin Head-Fourman, a brewer whose experience includes two well-regarded names in modern British beer, Burning Sky and Beak. After joining Burning Sky in 2016, Robin became head brewer at Beak, helping shape its beers during the brewery’s early years. In late 2025, he struck out on his own, setting up Fourman at the Trevor Arms pub in Glynde, East Sussex, where brewing returned to the village after a gap of almost 200 years.

Fourman is deliberately small, with a compact brewing setup that gives Robin the freedom to work hands-on and keep the range moving. His background brings together technical brewing knowledge and an interest in flavourful, carefully made beer. Hoppy pale ales and IPAs are a major focus, often built around modern hop varieties and the juicy citrus, tropical fruit and stone-fruit character they can bring.

The range also stretches into stronger double IPAs, lagers, stouts and more experimental releases. Beers such as Kite, an American-style pale ale, and Flume, a hazy IPA, show the hop-forward side of the brewery, while Lattice explores a fuller, stronger IPA style. Collaborations with breweries including Newbarns and Donzoko give Robin another way to experiment with ingredients and recipes.

Despite the modern beer styles, Fourman is not all about hazy hops and high ABVs. The brewery also makes cask beer, including a Best Bitter that has earned praise for its balance and drinkability. Keeping the operation based at a pub means the beers are closely connected to the place they are brewed, with the chance to serve fresh beer directly to local drinkers.

Fourman brings together Robin’s experience at larger, established craft breweries with the freedom of running a small independent operation. The result is a flexible range that can move between crisp lagers, expressive pale ales and more ambitious IPAs without losing sight of drinkability. It is a young brewery, but one with an experienced brewer at the helm and a clear sense of what makes a good pint.
