Crafted in the remote village of Tarbert by Isle of Harris Distillery on Isle of Harris, Isle of Harris Gin captures the wild, coastal character of the Hebrides in a beautifully refined and distinctive spirit.

Infused with hand-harvested sugar kelp gathered from local seas, the gin opens with bright notes of juniper, citrus, and pine, followed by delicate floral aromas and a subtle maritime freshness. The palate is smooth and elegant, balancing crisp botanicals with a gentle salinity and soft spice that give the spirit remarkable depth and texture.

Exceptionally clean and versatile, it works beautifully in a classic G&T, especially with a slice of pink grapefruit, or in lighter, citrus-led cocktails where its coastal character can really shine.

Tasting Notes

Refreshing, with good balance between the bitter juniper and pine and the sweet fruit flavours of mango, grapefruit and orange. A green herb flavour of crushed coriander develops. Distinctive and smooth with a dry, flinty taste.

Isle of Harris

Style: Distillery

Country: Scotland

Region: Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides

The Isle of Harris Distillery somehow managed to become wildly popular without losing the feeling that actual humans still work there. Sitting in the tiny harbour village of Tarbert in the Outer Hebrides, the whole project was built to create jobs and bring life back into the local community, which already gives it a bit more soul than half the luxury spirits industry combined.

Most people know the distillery because of the gin. Fair enough too, because the bottle alone has probably launched a thousand kitchen shelf photos. Thankfully the liquid’s genuinely excellent. Sugar kelp harvested from local waters gives the gin this fresh salty coastal edge underneath all the citrus and juniper, so it tastes properly maritime instead of just vaguely “inspired by the sea” in a marketing sense.

The whisky side has developed a huge following as well, especially since the release of The Hearach single malt. The style leans soft, elegant and coastal rather than full smoke-and-fire peat monster. Honey, cereal sweetness, orchard fruit and gentle spice all drifting around together nicely.

What really makes Harris memorable though is the atmosphere around it all. The distillery feels tied directly to the island and the people living there instead of existing purely to sell expensive gift boxes in airports. Even the branding somehow avoids becoming annoying despite being all over Instagram constantly.

Very few distilleries manage to feel this polished and this genuine at the same time.
