More About Vincent Paris, Cornas La Geynale Syrah 2009

A beautifully mature Cornas from Vincent Paris, made from old-vine Syrah grown on the steep granite slopes of La Geynale. The warm 2009 vintage produced a particularly powerful, concentrated wine, but the granite-derived minerality and fresh acidity keep all that richness in check. Now well into its secondary stage, it's developing the earthy, savoury complexity that makes mature Northern Rhône so compelling.

There's deep blackberry and cassis at its core, alongside black olive, liquorice, dried herbs, violets and a touch of smoked meat. Full-bodied and densely textured, with fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral finish, this is a serious, age-worthy Syrah that's now beginning to show its full character.
