We're Talking Chilled Red!

Not every red wine needs to be served at room temperature. In fact, many lighter-bodied reds really come to life with a short spell in the fridge, bringing out their freshness, bright fruit and lively acidity. A slight chill softens the perception of alcohol while making these wines feel more vibrant and refreshing, especially during warmer weather or alongside lighter meals.

The best reds to chill are those with gentle tannins and plenty of juicy fruit, such as Gamay, Frappato, Cinsault, Schiava, lighter Pinot Noir or some fresh styles of Cabernet Franc and Grenache. Around 20 to 30 minutes in the fridge is usually enough, aiming for a serving temperature of around 12 to 14°C. Perfect for picnics, barbecues or simply drinking in the garden.
