More About Carn Mór Linkwood 2017 Tokaji Finish

This limited Càrn Mòr release was distilled at Linkwood in 2017, bottled in 2026 at 51.2% ABV and matured in a Tokaji wine cask. Outturn appears extremely small at around 226–228 bottles. Tokaji maturation contributes honeyed fruit richness and sweetness to Linkwood’s naturally floral style.

Carn Mór Linkwood 2017 Tokaji Finish

Carn Mór Linkwood 2017 Tokaji Finish is an unusual and highly limited Speyside single malt released as part of the Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited range from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. Distilled at Linkwood and matured for eight years before bottling, this whisky combines the elegant orchard fruit character of Linkwood with the rich sweetness and vibrant acidity associated with Hungarian Tokaji wine casks.

Linkwood is often celebrated for delicate floral notes, soft fruit and a refined spirit character. Here, the Tokaji finish amplifies those traits, bringing layers of juicy sultanas, tropical fruit and honeyed richness while maintaining freshness and balance. Independent descriptions consistently mention ripe tropical fruit, orchard fruit and lingering sweetness.

Bottled at a natural 51.2% ABV with no chill filtration and natural colour, this is a whisky aimed at drinkers who enjoy unusual wine cask finishes and fruit-driven Speyside malts. With fewer than 230 bottles produced, availability is likely to remain limited.

Meet the Producer, Morrison Distillers

Morrison Distillers

Style: Distillery & Independent Bottlers

Independent bottlers occupy one of whisky’s most enjoyable corners because they’re often less interested in consistency and more interested in finding genuinely characterful casks. Morrison Distillers sit firmly in that tradition.

The Morrison family have deep roots in Scotch whisky through decades of involvement with Bowmore and independent bottling before launching their own modern portfolio including labels like Carn Mor, Old Perth and Mac-Talla. The focus leans heavily towards single casks, blended malts and regionally expressive Scotch rather than mass-market whisky production.

The whiskies themselves vary widely depending on the label, though there’s usually a common thread of sensible cask management and spirit-first thinking underneath. Old Perth balances rich sherried malt beautifully, while Mac-Talla explores smoky Islay styles without turning everything into pure peat assault.

Independent bottling also allows drinkers to explore distilleries and flavour profiles that larger official releases sometimes smooth out for consistency. Slightly weird casks, unusual maturation and more transparent whisky generally follow.

Scotland’s whisky world feels healthier when companies like Morrison exist alongside the giant multinational brands. Smaller-scale, enthusiast-driven and still clearly run by people who enjoy whisky as a drink rather than purely an investment category.
