Sauvignon Blanc Trinqu’ames Delecheneau from the Loire Valley is a crisp, lively expression of the grape, offering a classic Touraine style with refreshing minerality and herbaceous notes. Produced using lutte raisonnée principles, this thirst-quenching wine comes from Damien and Coralie Delecheneau of La Grange Tiphaine, though they handle only the vinification. It has been described as the fun substitute teacher for Sancerre that you never want to leave—a fitting description for such an enjoyable and great-value wine.

Made from organically and biodynamically farmed Sauvignon Blanc, this 2023 vintage is medium-bodied with a dry, vibrant profile and an alcohol content of 13% ABV. With an annual production of 5,000 to 10,000 bottles, it is crafted with care and attention to terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed in a pneumatic press before being transferred by gravity to settle in inert vats. The resulting wine is elegant, balanced, and full of character, with the potential to age for 3–5 years.

Coralie and Damien Delecheneau took over the family estate in 2002, running it with deep respect for nature and the traditional techniques of the region. Their vineyards, cultivated with a commitment to organic and biodynamic practices, produce a diverse range of wines from Chenin Blanc, Cot/Malbec, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Grolleau. This meticulous approach ensures that each wine carries a true sense of place, delivering purity and elegance in every bottle.

La Grange Tiphaine

Style: Winery

Country: France

Region: Loire Valley, Touraine

La Grange Tiphaine are one of those Loire producers wine people start talking about with slightly alarming enthusiasm after a couple of glasses.

Run by Damien and Coralie Delecheneau in Touraine, the estate works organically and biodynamically across a patchwork of Loire vineyards producing Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Côt and loads of local varieties. The wines feel incredibly alive and expressive without tipping fully into wild natural wine madness.

The Chenin Blancs especially are brilliant. Citrus, beeswax, orchard fruit and loads of stony minerality all wrapped up in sharp Loire acidity that keeps everything tense and energetic. Then the reds bring fresh dark fruit, herbs and soft earthy spice without becoming overly heavy or rustic.

A lot of the wines see very gentle winemaking too. Native yeasts, low sulphur, careful extraction and a clear sense that the vineyard should be doing most of the talking.

What makes La Grange Tiphaine so appealing is how drinkable the wines stay despite all the complexity. You can absolutely nerd out over the details if you want, but they also work perfectly well with roast chicken and a noisy table full of people not discussing soil composition.

The Loire in general feels like one of the happiest places in the wine world right now, and producers like this are a big reason why.
