A bold and captivating red from Georgia’s Kakheti region, crafted from hand‑selected Saperavi grapes sourced from the ‘Twin Vineyard’ site. It delivers deep ruby colour, rich aromas of blackberries, plums, and cherries, with a hint of warm spice. The palate is robust yet elegant, with well‑integrated tannins, a smooth structure, and a long, savory finish. Perfect with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or a mature hard cheese.

Style: Winery

Georgia’s wine history is so old it occasionally makes the rest of the wine world look like a recent experiment. Tbilvino has become one of the producers helping carry that history into modern international markets.

Established in 1962 and now operating major wineries in both Tbilisi and Kakheti, the company works extensively with indigenous Georgian grape varieties while combining traditional methods with modern cellar technology. Vineyards across regions such as Mukuzani, Kindzmarauli and Tsinandali provide much of the fruit.

Saperavi remains the flagship red variety. Dense, structured and capable of serious ageing, it produces wines packed with dark fruit, spice and earthy depth. Alongside it sit traditional Georgian whites including Rkatsiteli, Kisi and Mtsvane, often produced in both conventional and qvevri-aged styles.

The qvevri wines are particularly interesting. Fermented and aged in large clay vessels buried underground, they carry texture, savoury complexity and a direct connection to one of the world’s oldest winemaking traditions.

Tbilvino occupies an unusual position. Large enough to play a major role in Georgian wine exports, but still heavily invested in preserving local grape varieties and historical techniques. That balance has helped make the winery one of the country’s most recognisable names.
