Villa Wolf Dry Riesling is a distinguished white wine from Germany's Pfalz region, produced by the esteemed Villa Wolf estate. This wine is crafted from 100% Riesling grapes, reflecting the traditional winemaking practices of the area.

The 2023 vintage presents a medium-bodied profile with flavors of peach, apricot, and other stone fruits, complemented by a crisp acidity that provides a juicy grip. This balance makes it an excellent match for classic continental-style dishes, especially those featuring freshwater fish, chicken, and pork.

Villa Wolf

Style: Winery

Country: Germany

Region: Pfalz

The Pfalz often gets overshadowed by the Mosel when people talk about German wine, which is slightly unfair considering how much excellent Riesling and Pinot Noir comes from the region. Villa Wolf has been helping make that case for a long time.

Founded in 1756 in Wachenheim, the estate entered a new chapter when Ernst Loosen took over in 1996 and began restoring both the vineyards and the winery’s reputation. His aim was not to copy Mosel Riesling but to show what the warmer, drier conditions of the Pfalz could produce.

Riesling remains central to the range. The wines often combine citrus, peach, minerality and bright acidity with a slightly broader texture than many Mosel examples. Pinot Noir also plays an important role, producing wines with red berry fruit, spice and freshness that continue to surprise people who still underestimate German reds.

What makes Villa Wolf particularly appealing is that the wines remain rooted in the Pfalz itself. They are expressive without being flashy and precise without becoming severe.

Germany does not only make great Riesling. Villa Wolf quietly reminds people of that every year.
